Travels of Mark Silver

Browns Park Utah to Atlantic City Wyoming

Heading up to meet Bruce at Jeffries City on Monday

Just like always it took me until 1 pm to get away on this trip. Another frantic packing experience. Remembering that I am going to be passing by some places where you can purchase stuff, I finally just stuffed everything in the back box and got on the road. I can throw stuff away, I can shop for more. Just get on the road.

And then I remembered that I had one more (perhaps the last ever) work related thing to do. I forgot to write a short report for a customer on an application.

This is the Green River near my house. As in a half mile from my house.

I drive by every day, but today knowing that I am on a grand holiday with no plan, no end date, no expected path, absolutely no expectations it feels much different.

The temperature is perfect. The sun is bright. The air is crisp. Let's go!

Yes, this is where I live.

Click on the image, blow it up and be jealous.

This the overlook at the top of the dugway on the way out of Brown's Park up Jessie Ewing Canyon.

It might be 4 miles from my house.

Wow, it is great to live here. But, let's go explore some places in Wyoming.

Same overlook. That's my house in the background above the back box.

Clay Basin is not usually that interesting, but today it is spectacular.

Worth stopping to take a picture of.

That is 3-Corners off on the horizon. Picture is taken from the pull-off overlook on 191. Clay Basin is in the bottom of the canyon behind me.

It is like the Grand Canyon, but not that big and there are no tourists.

Wow … Just Wow!

I stopped in Rock Springs at Smiths and met 3 riders from Rock Springs. They are super adventurous and go on well planned rides every year. I got their number and I am going to invite them down to the Park when I get back from Chile for local rides and BBQ.

This is the old mill at South Pass City. Coming back for a tour.

South Pass City is definitely worth stopping at. Unfortunately, I have never been here before and they closed the site 7 minutes ago. So a revisit is a task for Future Mark.

Admittedly, Future Mark has a very full plate.

There are a couple of hunter's trailers in this campground. So, with me perhaps 3 sites occupied out of 20. It is super nice. Table, firepit, decent tent site. Very close, 1.5 miles to Atlantic City.

I set the tent up a long ways from the table, hopefully when the bears show up (lately there is always a bear in camp) I can run them off before they tear things up (the food is all locked up in the back box on the bike.)

I have switched to lead based bear spray on this trip.
